25 years ago: St. Francis Hospital yesterday bowed out of negotiations to buy rights to 250 beds licensed to City of Memphis Hospital. St. Francis had proposed to pay $2.5 million a year over the next 20 years for the beds. The deal was touted as a means to aid St. Francis in its expansion efforts and to provide more money for City of Memphis Hospital's indigent patient care. Full story »
