Is there a smarter play in Shelby-Metro prep football this season than handing off to Tausean Holmes?
The Millington senior running back is averaging 18.1 yards per rush after his nine-carry, 180-yard performance Friday night. His heroics helped the No. 3 Trojans' to a 28-19 victory over visiting Ridgeway in Region 7-5A.

Holmes had a 62-yard touchdown run in Millington's 21-point fourth quarter. Teammate Tyrell Garner added runs of 8 and 3 yards as the Trojans improved to 7-0 overall, 5-0 in the region.
Germantown knows something about running the football, too. The No. 8 Red Devils rolled up 210 yards -- of their 220 yards total offense -- on the ground in a 21-16 Region 8-5A home victory over hard-charging Kirby.
The Cougars made it close with a pair of second-half touchdown passes by Deion Woods.
In perhaps the night's wildest game, Mitchell rolled to an early three-touchdown lead, then survived a second-half onslaught by host Christian Brothers in a 35-34 victory. The Purple Wave could have tied the game with an extra point with 29 seconds left, but instead went for the lead and was stopped on a running play.
CBHS then recovered an onside kick, but Jeff Sexton's 47-yard field goal try missed with two seconds left.
